CLO#1 nagamaki naoshi - Chogi
Sakihaba: 2.65 cm
Kissaki: 13 cm
Nagamaki naoshi by the sword smith Chogi in shirasaya with NBTHK Juyo Token certificate. Chogi is a Masamune student, Ca. 1340. Masamune had ten students that were all superb swordsmiths. Chogi from Bizen ranked in the upper echelon of his students. His work with the mixture of Soshu and Bizen style provides some of the most exuberant of tempers. This sword shows the hamon activity at his best.
This nagamki naoshi was given the NBTHK Juyo Token status during the 16th session in showa 42 - Aug 10th, 1967. This sword is in a shirasaya with Honma Kunsan sayagaki dated 1970. It has an old kinkise niju habaki. The large flamboyant temper is a midare gunome mix with sunagashi here and there with ashi inside. The temper line is a mixture of nioi and konie that stands out . Boshi ( tip) is midare komi. The hada ( laminations) is itame mixed with mokume and is slightly hada tachi.
An excellent piece for one to see the Soden- Bizen style combination in and a gret chance for the collector to have one of the masamune students works.
