Beautifully mounted Wakizashi signed Awataguchi Ome No Kami Tadatsuna with a date of Kanbun Juichi Nen Ni Gatsu Hi ( Feb 1671)

It has a NBTHK Tokubetsu Koshu Certificate. illustrated in Token Bijutsu magazine. and is the earliest dated piece for this smith.
The temper is a large impressive Choji on both sides of the blade. It has a bonji ( engraving) of kanji and ken horimono.
The habaki is a very well made gold kin kise niju one.
It is stored in a nice wood shirasaya. the koshirae is a nice lacquer with 8 string two toned jabara maki handle wrap. The tsuba is an unusual Yagyu with the spokes crosshatched with gold. The fuchi kashira and menuki are shakudo and gold shishi motif.
